I present you with some of what you used to expect from me ~ FLORAL PORTRAITS!
I'm being kind to your journals and using a lj-cut AND just a pale little bud. Click below for some retina burning orange XD
T.G.I.F and all that folks! It's a fullmoon so keep your powder dry and your wits about you ...and above all, no matter what happens just count to ten and let it slide. ;)

*^__^*
Thank-you.
The directional lighting is indirect, mid-morning sun and the black background is ~ a black piece of canvas I tape up to the wall and photograph against.
If the point is to emphasize the flowers...darn it if I'm not going to do my best to minimize the background disctractions and also use a colour to make them POP! :)
The orange is very vivid and striking against the black background. Do you have the flowers illuminated with lamps? Or is this natural light? *is very curious*
Uh... I'm also developing an interest in photography, it seems. I might ask lots of questions. If I'm bothering you, please let me know. ^___^ I won't be upset, I promise.
The type of camera I use is the Canon G9. Now while I am a camera idiot (and trust me I am) this particular camera is forgiving for people like myself who want to experiment but can't keep technical information in their head beyond telling time. ONE of the reasons I chose the camera is for the awesome, OPTICAL macro function (I prefer CLOSE ups to zoom...although the zoom on this camera is good too).
The black background is black canvas. The light is indirect, mid-morning sunshine through the window.
Don't ever be shy of asking. If I can give you and answer I will :)
I might start researching different camera options and saving up... if I find that my current camera does not take the kind of pictures I want when my doll gets home. It's something to think about. (But then we run into the quandary of saving for camera vs. saving for BJD and BJD related items... hmmm. XD)
I didn't get it for dolls ...I have this model of camera becasue I take close-ups of everything. My imagination leans toward the *up and personal* when it comes to photography regardless of subject. So I was lucky to start out with a camera that did the work I wanted it to before I seriously got into dolls.
Oh I can imagine that the memory card got a severe work out at Ycon *LOL*
That said, I think you'll get along very well. Pira's a doll :)
*glomp*
*^____^* aw thankee on the doll comment. Of course so is Tam...she's the MSD to my SD !!
That dark background really emphasizes the gorgeous color of the flowers. I'm so in awe of your photographic talent.
I finally got myself some black cloth and tape it up to photography dolls or flowers against and it just makes everything look SO much better because the subject isn't competing with everything in the background for your attention.
Is it any wonder professional photographers use this simple trick? *face palm*
