Picked-up my father's birthday present this morning, did a quick bit or morning grocery shopping and then finished sanding the little room, vacuumed it before washing the walls.
I'm waiting on them to fully dry before I start taping the woodwork and then tomorrow doing the first coat of primer.
I am wondering what kind of renovations were done in this room 30 years ago, because these seems to be a lot of plasterboard and/or drywall instead of all 4 walls being plaster and lath. *0__o...and lots of squirrely tape work and quasi wallpaper removal.
I then pushed a few more seeds into the ground before taking my two Resinsoul boys tinies apart. I washed their heads and have left the pieces to dry before I spray them with MSC. I then proceeded to wire their floppy little bodies while I had their heads on a platter. This involves shoving pipecleaner or plastic coated wire through one wrist/ankle and up through the limb, the torso and then down through the other limb ~ darned if that didn't make an immediate improvement on the swinging and flopping appendages. :3
I was getting frustrated with myself because I wanted to play with them but I'd prefer they had face-ups and there is no excuse besides my own laziness. Now that I've go so much done around the house I can start putting a few hours aside daily to work on my resin army without feeling guilty that I should really be doing something else. I haven't gotten around to working on Mizu or Sora because both require full body painting and this is a much bigger undertaking than just a gentle pastel detailing on the little blue boys..
Anyway...soon off to pick up the sprog from school and take him to tutoring (a.k.a. quality reading time for Pira)
Taking time for yourself is a good thing; I'm glad you find time in between everything else to enjoy your hobbies (meaning reading and dolls and probably lots of other things too). I'm interested in seeing how your boys come out after the face ups are done.
Also... I need to restring Rowan. And I found out the other day that the mark we had put on her arm elastic (to differentiate it from her leg elastic) is rubbing off onto the resin inside her neck. Do you think that will scrub off? I'm scared to restring her (do I need special tools? I should go look this up) but I don't want to stain her resin either (even if it is inside her neck where no one can see it). *sigh* And I so need clothes for her... she's still lounging around in scarves. I sense more money being spent soon. *smile*
*plays catch-up with comments ~ will do this one and then back to wall painting*
I tend to be on *stand-by* for the entire family most of the time, so I flit from one thing to another domestically and do my hobbies in between . I finally got Turq done (pix posted) but messed up his little brother so had to scrub Lapis down last night and start again today.
That's no big deal. It's all part of the fun and learning curve with these things ~ but it does make me wonder if I'll want to get my next MSD with a face-up or not.
OH by the way...restringing might just mean tightening ...and WIRE her. MY GODS the difference that makes in these dolls. I'm going to try that out on Mei's (Sora) body tonight because just tightening the elastic isn't going to make them pose better but HOLA does the wiring work so WELL for them. For your elfkin...white pipecleaners will make the difference between flop monster and brillant little poser :)
Mr Clean Magid Eraser with isopropyl acholol might work but depends on what the substance was. SOMETIMES hair spray fluid will get pen off...good luck with that. If it's inside the neck you it might not matter too much but try to clean it though..
As for the wire ~ electrical wire that is covered in white plastic. NO COLOURED PLASTIC okay? I don't know the gage but it's about the thickness of a pencil crayon lead.
As for tools....well you need a ribbon and I can't emphasize how much you should invest in a set of hymostats/clamps. It makes the doll play simple. They clamp and you don't have to worry about the elastics escaping while you are tying knots or restringing.
A ribbon or thin shoelace is handy to thread things through....
The hymostats should be available at automotive places but I found them really simple to just buy a set on ebay. Not expensive....saves your sanity.
Clothes...oh yeah...dolls are a money pit when they start demanding clothing >D
