It's so unfair to show this room when the sun isn't shining because the purple is a really rich tones and not at all garish. Near impossible to present with a flash but ...you get the idea.
The reason for so many coats is that it was drywall under the paint. Usually you have paint on the walls and can just cover that but drywall is a sponge, and with no barrier previously put down the colour just gets sucked in and muted.
I also refused to pay for tinted primer (undercoat) because I had THREE colours in this room and wasn't going to do 3 seperate cans soooo long story short it's one coat of primer and then I realized it was not ever going to be enough so went straight to a strong good quality white paint for 3 more coats and that in the end makes the colours really POP. I don't mind the extra work ~ it's not like I had to get this done in 2 days ;)
As for the cement...yeah...5 bags. I probably should have been another half but we didn't want to crack open another bag unless we had to.
The garden is easy this year....warm and cool with sufficient rain is easing me back into the swing of things. :)
