Well now...it was bound to happen.
Because I have only sporatically been able to get to the gym for the month of December and early January ~ the snowshovelling finally got me.
I go to the gym in part to strengthen my back and shoulders, and this mornings shoveling at 5 a.m. while it was not heavy like yesterdays wet snow ~ in fact it was 3"/7cm of fluff ~ it was the proverbial last straw. The muscles around the ribs along my back just seized up so tight that I could feel myself breathing.
ARGH!!!
Dosed quickly with Tylenol I've been sitting at the pc, reading online, while using the electric thumper to try and ease the knots that were getting tighter by the minute. Admittedly it's better than lower back or even the pain I tend to get between the shoulders blades, but dayum that is just annoying.
It does make me marvel though about the human body and the fact that you can actively avoid this problem with conditioning....and how fast you can fall out of shape and more amazingly ~ how quickly our bodies react. I'd better make a point of fighting for my right to get to the gym...while it is mid-winter, spring is not really that far around the corner and my garden is getting an overhaul....I don't imagine rock hauling or digging is going to be easier than snow.
