Saturday afternoon...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well the Big Thaw is upon us and I am officially stressing about the wall of icicles hanging over a section of roof at the back of the house, and wondering if it will destroy my awing again when it finally slides off or will it somehow melt to the point where the damage is minimal....or nil (oh please let it be nil)

It's a problem area that is left up to me to deal with and I think I know what angle to approach it from now, short of spending thousands to rebuild the roof angles into something less prone to hordin a glacier of snow. I am determined this spring that I'll have an electrician lined up to get power up there (again) and some roofwalker putting up heating cables (again)..but this time also get the foam insulation blown into the useless spaces under the eaves where the heat leaking causes the problem in the first place!

What the latter involves is a daunting task of clearing out the attic so they can work in it...and I've go the eldest as my slave for the summer....more about that later....but the fact is that if we are emptying the attic then we are going go get rid of 50% of the crap up.

Anyway ~ Today Teh Sprog and Coach Bob are out of town for a hoop tournie so I had the chance to run a few errands uninterupted - and get to the gym, before giving up my car to the middling spawn. Aside from domestic stuff I had the chance to watch another youtube video about face-ups and learned the size of brush to use for the delicate bottom lashes and eyebrows on a doll.

Clutching my 40% coupon from the Micheals' flyer, I found the 18/0 sized brush in question and am now ready for Mizu and Sora :)

I also went to the only shop in town dedicated to hobby modeling, hoping to find some Tamiya products and while they are set up mostly for gamers and hadn't even heard of Obitsu, they did teach me about some of the products they had on hand and put me down for the epoxy putty (for Omega Man's cracked wrist seam) I was looking for.

He had NO idea though, what I was talking about when I asked for Mr. Super Clear (the coating I use on my dolls to protect them from discolouring and between coats of paint/pastels) and when searching it up online was figuring he'd have to get it through the US distributor and it wouldn't be worth his while.

I thought for a moment that it might be if the bjd girls around town knew about him, but then thought...nah. It's just easier for me to stock up on it from an online Japanese hobbyshop. In the end the product would come out the same price with the 13% taxes and their mark-up, when they maybe get it sometime in the future. I will be doing a lot of dolls sooner than later and I WILL need it so we moved onto another question I had....

AND I did get advice on a gel glue to use for my watch gears to attach them to plastic. :)

While at the gym I plowed through 3/4s of volume 7 of Y: The Last Man. It really has me rivited and disturbed and fascinated and slightly freaked and... and I'm a bit piqued that I lumped together the next 2 volumes with a pre-order of a book that won't be released 'til April.

....I guess I'll have lots of time to worry about the lack of insects and the collapse of agriculture in that time. That isn't mentioned in the books...but I am left sad at the thought of no bees buzzing or birds chirping. This stupid GN is waking me up at 4 am these days and keeping me staring bug-eyed at the ceiling until I just get up and do something that takes my mind off things like...only the hermaphodites of the natural world could survive this kind of plague...assuming they could find something to eat.

Speaking of which, I need to make some dinner for the troops. TTFN :)
