Can I play?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Changed my livingroom display. Willow is playing *girl child* for Japanese Girls Day and posing with a quilted child's kimono. Kohl is sulking on their couch, pretending he's okay with being left alone for a while....

Not entirely sure what happened yesterday but no stitching got done ~ although I did cut the netting and decided what shape I wanted for Mizu's ...er...outfit. Of course it will be nothing like I imagine it when I'm done my usual skilled handywork on it but that's part of the fun.

Domestic duties of one sort or another just sucked back the day.

The sprog was thrilled to discover a heap of *used* 1/6-sized weaponry, boots and assorted *male* things that I'd picked up and after weedling out of me a few choice items he lamented that there were not dolls that didn't require painting that could be used with the small hand cannons and stuffs.

*0__o....I pointed out that I had some used GI Joe type of dolls (stripped of clothing for the Obitsu boys) if he was interested.

He was. He dismissed the KEN doll though....immediately. Total brush off of Mr. Milquetoast..

He prefers the brawny, well articulated, over-testosteronated RARRRRR males.

....hm. Good taste.

I was very proud of him. :)

My daughters looked on in wonder, that their brother was playing with dolls and pronounced me EVIL.

And their point is?

Next thing you know I'll have him playing with Obitsu and then...modding dolls and then? MY LORD WHO KNOWS WHERE this dark path will lead!!!

MWAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHH!!!

In other news, I've been re-reading the Penguin Classic edition of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I haven't read that book in 30 years. I must not have had the edition where they kept all the 17th century spelling intact, because I certainly donn't recall the jarring starts and stops, as I stumble across: chuse, sopha, stile (as in style), shewed, etc.

It's REALLY very annoying, and while I can understand that they would leave in the obsolete spelling of words, it becomes a problem when you are picking through them AND their editing errors.

...either that or Jane Austen couldn't be bothered to put captials at the beginnings of all her sentances.

That aside, what I find amusing is how this book keeps prompting me to read aloud. I don't know what it is, but I constantly catch myself starting to verbalize in public places (I am reading this while waiting on my son at his various lessons)....I wonder if that isn't just proof at what a wonderful story it is and how utterly it engages the reader.

AND ...yes. I DO speak with an accent and change my voice for each of the characters.

*face palm*
