I've spent the morning YouTubing various animated shorts and snippets of full length features from my youth, pondering how much time has changed the selection of cartoons kids have access to.
Once upon a time I had about a 6 available to me on 2 channels on Saturday mornings and they were OLD THEN, and not remotely well done. The budget for cartoons on English television in Canada must have been pretty bad....either that or they just thought we'd watch anything they threw at us...and I think they were right. Hell give a kid a bowl of Corn Pops and a glass of Tang and they don't really CARE what it is so long as it's animated... Rocket Robin Hood was one of them (I still know the words to the song)...but it wasn't till I started poking about that I found another of the oldies which NOW has me howling.
Here's the opening sequence to The Mighty Hercules:
Softness in his eyes
IRON IN HIS THIGHS!!!???
Virtue in his heart
FIRE IN EVERY PART of the MIGHTY HERCULES!
BWAHAHAHHAHAHHA!
