[info]larian asked for a view of my front hall when you walk in...this was a bit of a problem due to the glare from the flash (it was fuzzy without one....little sunlight today). But....here it is.

I thought you might want to see what is behind the door that is opened up and in the way when you look to the left after stepping in.
I LOVE my big old front hall way....lots of room to put on coats and boots. A far cry from the one person entrance of my old home.

[info]tameiki wanted to see the manga/doujinshi that I didn't put in the attic. Um....okay....well omitting the dozens of whatever volumes my mother currently is borrowing, here we go. Starting with the *general manga* shelf in my bedroom. Naturally it's double stacked.

I am currently having a rethink on where to put all this stuff, and cleared off my night table which had become a circus act of balancing books. Much in this pile is currently recieved/read material that will be filed on the yaoi shelves....

Such as this one shoved into a spare corner of my room.

Or onto one of these shelves on the other side of my room. It will be a major undertaking to sort through these things and make room for the new volumes ~ leaving gaps for those to follow.

This is downstairs in the ....er....reading room/library. This it technically the dining room, but we have never used it for that purpose. Now it holds a LOT of books, a few comfy chairs and space for the sprog to set up his dinos and actionfigures to play.

THESE manga and graphic novels are my NOT read items. Believe it or not...that top shelf is double stacked with manga and behind it are novels that ARE read. Those shelves are DEEP...*thank goodness*. Anyway ~ here is where my pre-orders go till I am ready to grab it on the way to the gym or play the waiting game on the husband or kids.

AND this is my Japanese language bookshelf....djs and raw tankobons. This will be re-organized over the course of the next few months as I figure out the best way to store things (kimono/furoku) and make my sewing books easier to grab. I also tend to keep my books about manga history here and will retain a shelf for my figures.

....hard to believe I took anything to the attic. (.__(.

  • Great good ghods!

Curiousity compels me, do you own *every* English language release or are there some you said 'no' to. And if you did pass on one, why?

    Curiousity also has me wanting to see a picture of all the storage boxes in the attic now. ^__^;;

I'm sort-of working on organizing my manga horde. Very slowly. Snails move faster.
    • *hides under chair in embarrassment*

Actually ~ hard as it might be to believe....I really don't read every series. Problem is that when I start a series I want to finish it. I hate doing book things half way.

My problem is I like yaoi a lot...but I also like shonen, shojo, seinen,....you know just about everything but manga that is mostly about games (yu gi oh) and meca...the the total pap kiddy stuff. Much of my problem with series arose when there was little yaoi available...so I'd read other series.....which brings me back to wanting to finish them even though technically I could drown in yaoi.

My biggest problem really...is I've rediscovered graphic novels....or rather comic compliations. I missed the series in the 90s on and quite frankly some really good stuff came out.

      *head desk*

      • Sorry, I meant every English yaoi release.

I have no room to speak on the full manga front, since I, too, like the shonen, seinen, a little shojo, mecha, but yeah, not generally the card game type. I'm trying to hold down the number I collect to keep by reading scanlations online but that's easier said than done when so much is being put forth. Although I've limited myself by necessity on owning raws & dj. There's only been a few exceptions.

At least you have a house. A one-bedroom apt is limited in library space. I'm having to get creative with my shelving and stacking.
  • Holy COW!!! Just how little much did you take to the attic? *is in awe and more than a little envious of Pira's collection*

So when are you planning to add that huge library addition to your house? >:)
    • *yeaaaaaaaaah*...it's all pretty ....scary.

See when you asked me about non-manga vs. manga shelves, I thought...oh THAT's easy.

Then realized that the library room has that one plus another like it packed....I say PACKED with books...plus another book case slowly filling up and then there is the one Bob gave me at the top of the stairs that is half filled (because it's not double stacked...and of course I'm not talking about kids books ...(probably a 1000) or the baskets around the house filled with books and or magazines or the livingroom table shelf which is stacked..or my cooking magazine shelf...or wait...the cook books on the counter...or the 20 odd boxes in the attic of books (not counting the 6 of raw tankoubons).

*cough*....or the shelf in my bathroom....

You know my house IS a library... *cringes*
  • Suddenly I feel better about my own meagre collection XD
    • Well...at least one good thing has come of this manga madness >D
  • OOooh...lots of hard wood too! Cool. Thank you!
    • Yep. Old Victorians are pretty good for that if you can find them without too much in the way of modernization. :)

...Only problem is the lack of closets.....including the front hall (we had to buy a wardrobe for our coats.
