She wore bluuuuue velvet....

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Here is Azul ~ looking all tres chic in the blue gown sent to her by the shopkeeps at Featherfall, in the same package that Mizu and Sora arrived in. :)

Very pretty with beading and dangly bits. While I'm not much for dressing my dolls up in fancy things this one is very nice. While the shop is making different kinds of clothing for the Resinsoul line they are selling ~ beyond the kimono and name brands they've traditionally carried, this one is just a little one off made by the owner who sews the way some people knit or embroider to keep their hands busy.

It's sweet that Azul is once more gifted with a bit of finery...since the poor little thing certainly isn't going to get anything beaded out of me XD

Feeling her inner Pris

Maria's wig arrived and I just had to take advantage of some nice lateday light on Monday. It's not as screaming pink as the bodypaint is...hmmmm... and I haven't decided if that's a problem or not. Not that I can just rip her a apart again and give her a different colour inside.

Meanwhile ,I'm thinking how crinkle up aluminum foil might look inside her and now that the clock gears have arrived I'm exploring how to attach them....but all in good time. First finish the art area.

Closing in on having the decks cleared ~ mostly what's left is some paper sorting and filing after organizing of kimono textile pieces into drawers by colours ~ and then dusting. :)

Almost spring....as if...

This is an image of Tuuli when I was working out a pose for a New Years' card ~ but I didn't get her kimono made because; *add list of pathetic excuses here* ~ hence the card never materialized.

Maybe this year I'll manage to get all the elements into play long before the season is upon me and get stuff out in the mail...but until then thought I'd might as well share the *concept* photo with you.

Thank-you [info]tameiki for the lovely chat :) ~ hope your chores are done quickly and the universe rewards you with some well earned time to yourself to just do whatever you care to.

I managed to scramble up the street through to the Scottish bakery to pick-up the meat and onion pies for the teens and grumpy coac,h who arrived home for lunch hot on my heels. They are off later to another game and hoping to stay alive in the tournie they are hosting. If they lose I'm going to have one very un-happy Bob on my hands....because as a host he needs to stick it out to the end with a smile instead of just packing up and slinking it out of dodge with tail between his legs >_<

Having thawed my face out as I was looking at photos of last winter when the snow was as high as my car roof and thinking ...omg...those are dated MARCH. Geez ...and just when I was starting to think springish thoughts as I prepared to flip the calandar month over to February. Obviously I've had enough of winter XD

And here I was thinking how fast time was flying. Nertz.

Come on you little season-oracle of the rodent-kind! Give us an EARLY spring!

What a poser....

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

This is Vivian.

She is a 60 cm Obitsu Gretel (related to Monk & Dude) and is made up of a plastic skeleton and vinyl skin. In other words...she is NOT a RESIN doll and contains no internal elastics holding body bits together.

Like my 1/6 sized Obitsu, she has magnets in her feet. This combined with her plastic joints makes her superior to posing when compared to any resin on the market...regardless of price.

She is allowed in DoA only because she was grandfathered in from the groups beginings, but for the most part, BJD owners loathe her kind.

I purchased her used, from another Canuck ~ she came with a very good wig, a professional face-up and quiet expensive outfit....which combined dropped the cost of the doll to $40....and I was already spending $60 less than on a new nude, naked faced, wigless doll.

She was a steal. BUT not only that...she's GREAT!

I am currently waiting on some cleaner to deal with properly caring for her vinyl, but otherwise this is one hellava AWESOME doll that I am THRILLED to own.

I want you to keep this in mind when I post about my mini-meet experience.

OH hey.....I dropped Kai on you the other day, while I mused on Kulta and I entirely forgot to show off pictures of him.

Naturally he arrived in the hour that I was out of the house and Bob gave me the *ARE YOU MAD WOMAN??!!* look when I returned home.

Well yes...that goes without saying, but I DID remind him that it took them about two months to make the doll after my placing the order so it's not like I ran out and bought him yesterday! Kai was paid for quite some time ago.

I'm not sure he believes me....and to be honest I wouldn't believe me either all things considered....but hey ~ I assured him that the USD vs CND is pretty well a guanrentee that I'm going to be a good girl for the foreseeable future.

ANYway....here's a bit of Kai

It's Monday morning and I keep hitting the tracking button for my Elfdoll to see if she is still stuck in customs.

Better go clean the T.B.s' tank to keep my mind off incoming doll....which will probably arrive on Friday >D

Once more with PATIENCE!! =^..^=

Today was nice and sunny and I thought I'd take a moment to grab a few photographs of the resin kitten outside ~ but I was annoyed by the wig. Cute as it was, I really didn't like how the mesh under the hair would be visible in photos so it was time to bite the bullet and change her wig and that meant....taking those ears out ....again.

...and that meant taking out the ears and dealing with the silky, subtance of the wig I purchased a while ago, and was starting to doubt it suited her.

After the first wig I'd done a deep think on the mechanics of attaching ears that screw into the head through a wig filled with things that get caught up in the screwing...and plotted my attack.

The attack involved tape among other things and it worked. It worked REAL fine I might add since I had to do it more than once having not heeded my own advice and got the ears in on the wrong side of the head ~ but I've this thing so well figure out that changing them was a breeze if I was patient and went at it slowly.

Below are comparison shots from the old *ew* straw textured wig in the morning (and the only one where the wig webbing doesn't show across her forehead) and the new one later in the day....

Bonus for me is that I was right about the new wig...it DOES suit her. This pink outfit is just something to kick around in. She is going to find herself dressed in earth tones beyond this pretty little urban number. :)

She's HERE!! Finally ~ THE bjd that pushed me over the edge of the rabbit hole. The one I HAD TO HAVE because my defenses were breached and my heart captured....the one I ordered before the others...although not the 1st to arrive ~ Willow, my Dollzone, Shoyo-3!

She stands 44 cm / 17" high for those wanting to know. :)

And thar she gooooooes

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Yep. It's offical...well more official than it has been up to this point.

My first doll of the ball-jointed kind arrived the same day that my mother did, just prior to my leaving for SF. ARGH!!! At least she didn't have to sign for it but still...that meant spiriting the unopened box to a dark corner and waiting a week till I was back and she was gone to open it. Hard to believe I'm 43 and hiding toys that have nothing to do with smex! >D

I don't even want to contemplate her reaction to him...or any of the *cough* others. Teh Bob seems bemused with this new obsession and the girls sardonic but slightly creeped out by it *snort*...ANYway...yeah...I won't bore you with the details beyond the fact that it's been fascinating to unbox the first doll because I really had no idea how I'd react to him.

I teared-up. Seriously...I did not see that reaction coming. He was nothing at ALL what I was expecting but as I mentioned to another bjd-owner...he is 1000 kinds of wonderful. The texture of his limbs? Smooth as satin (blew my mind away that did). Dismiss them all you want but don't look to closely at them, because I really don't think you can be totally immune and once you spot *the one*...you ~ are ~ doomed.

The following are just a few images I managed to snag today when the sun finally came out. I wanted to capture his skin colour and face-up without a flash. Now I've got to choose a fabric to make a kimono out of that compliments his colouring :)

I still have to change his eyes...I have dark ebony ones for him. These glowing red, demonic coals are not quite doing it for me...but I'll get to that later.

Let me introduce you to....Kohl )

Cleaning & organizing the bookshelves meant sorting through books, furoku and those things I had collected over the last few months for ....my dollie.

When I had first pulled her out of the package I had realized one very important thing...J-dolls do not sit in seiza (the traditional, formalized manner of sitting in Japan)....period.

!!!!!ARGH!!!!

That will soon be remedied ~ I have a Pure Neemo body (and assorted hands) on the way, AND to my delight I discovered my Obitsu boys (that I have for drawing) also assume the position very well.

....I think I will be making mens' clothing for those two, along with items for my girl. Baldy might make a fine monk..... :)

ANYway...cleaning meant making room for a diorama, and since I now had the room I thought I'd take a moment to remove things from boxes (then put them into storage) and set up a little scene....

....and seriously what could be more inspiring to sewing?

Hatching and dispatching

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Another weekend misplaced. Hmph.

24 episodes of Bleach in the can...only 141+ to go. I will from this point onward watch them with my morning coffee and return to my regularly scheduled life. I must confess that I am REALLY enjoying this series *^___^*

Teh Man & Middling-spawn returned triumphant from a tournie in Ottawa. Nothing starts my week better than a basketball coach and uber-jockette child bounding into the house with smiles on their faces rather than dragging in cloud of doom and self-castigation.

Since the eldest and beau had taken over the livingroom for yoga & snuggling in front of the tv, I spent Saturday evening looking all over the internets for a forum/group/anything that talks about J-dolls. There is a obvious derth of such things and instead I found myself trolling through more ABJD (Asian Ball Jointed Doll) shops than I ever imagined could possibly exist...and found some groups that deciphered the dollie-talk that is thrown around in the more *exclusive* groups.

As for the latter....I also have a growing suspicion that some groups for people with really expensive dolls ... are a tad elitest ~ and if fandom thinks it seen the worst of Canon-Nazis, they haven't encountered the Dollie Purists.

That made me a bit sad. I did find a Flikr group that is dedicated to sharing imagese of J-dolls...which is good enough I suppose, for now. (.__(.

ANYway, speaking of dolls and fandoms ~ since Teh Sprog has been basically main-lining the entire trilogy of Lord of the Rings over the weekend,I figured this was a good time to just hand over all those boxed action figures collecting dust in the basement. They had to be moved for the construction work being done down there this week anyway, and instead of just shoving them into another corner to to be *TOYSTORIED* into oblivion, I dedided it was time to let go.

He reminded me at one point that I have some figures in my bedroom ....as he's coveting my Boromir in the cabinet. Nuh-uh. I'm not in fandom anymore but that doesn't mean I'm over Sean Bean!!!

The sprog gave up...for now... and got busy having Gundums battle alongside Teh King of Gondor, Gandolf the White & a Prince of Mirkwood against an army of evil Webkinz before I sent him off to bed >D

The other reason for handing over the toys was that I'd read some thoughts on LJ & fandoms shared by m_lady_rebeccas journal, and it had me thinking that much of what she(and those whom she linked to) said was spot on and;

1) Lj generally works well for fandom in spite of the hissyfits.

2) I don't have a fandom anymore

3) That is why I can basically walk away from LJ.

SURE I poke at it...but there is nothing tying me to the place but a few voices and half of them post over here anyway.

Time marches on....and I have either wandered away from or fled whatever fandom(s) I was involved in over the years. It's quieter (abeit lonelier) mucking about in your own stuff ~ but there's a hellalot less bitchiness :)

I can't say that I'm complaining about the lack of queenbees and wannabees.

In other news I didn't get that area of the house cleaned because I was too busy with my ass glued to the chair in front of my pc ~ but I did get all my collector cards filed away into sleeves and binder shelved. A babystep perhaps but hey ~ it's a move in the right direction.
