And she's OFF

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Well I took down the barrier this morning that blocked the driveway from anyone parking on it and yeaaaaaaay we have a flat surface!!

Of course my garden is a mad jungle and I still have a lot of rock/brick/soil to cart around and rearrange ~ but that's an August job. I am off today to the farm to do some animal-sitting for a few weeks as my parents go on their driving vacation.

One last kick at the dollie can before I bolt for dial-up country ~ here's Dude trying to explain fundoshi to Monk....

At some point their names just sort of gelled. I'd always sort of thought of them in those terms but never voiced the names...then I started actually talking about them and that was that.

Off to pack the car with assorted projects for myself during the week that I'll be alone ~ the 2nd week will probably see friends and/or family members drifting up there. SO I'd best snag those few books I'm about 3/4s through and just grind through them so I can check them off my list.

I've the old BBC series on dvd, The Camomile Lawn to watch too :)

...saw it on t.v. years ago (1992). My cousins in Australia scrounged up a copy of the book for me at a garage sale of all places, when I couldn't find it here to read in the library nor could I buy it (in those pre-internet days) as it was out of print ...really looking forward to some scotch and reminicing with Mary Wellsley's characters *^__^* T.T.F.N.

So the *pissy* stuff (literally and figuratively) has either been disposed of or washed. That would mean the floor, floor coverings, walls, my SEWING MACHINE, swivel chair legs, art desk legs, primed canvases...dust covers on books.....

....thank-the-gods my mother is taking Ruby permanently as of mid-July or there would be a body out in the rubbish bin tonight.

Speaking of rubbish ~ one vintage, 1950's, Swedish, wool rug sits on the curb in all it's brilliantly stinky glory. I wonder if someone in the neighbourhood will attempt to liberate it? Things like that usually do get picked-up (wonders what they did with the urine soaked mattress last year?)...*rolls eyes*

ANYway the cupboard AND artdesk is re-organized (ontop / inside / below)

NEW posters have been put up behind the desk...(raided the furoku/shitajiki/otaku crap collection for pretties)...and I've brought together the many odd figurines (except those who I make room for around my pc) and given them all a home together on the IKEA narrow shelves back there.

A WHOLE lot of cardboard boxes have been broken down and dispatched to recycling bins, but first I sliced out the large areas that make packing *do not bend* bubble envelopes LESS BENDY to posties who don't understand those BIG BLACK WORDS I PRINT ACROSS THE BACK AND FRONT..."PLEASE DO NOT BEND". Those pieces are now sorted into the a well stocked bin.

Box of electronic gadgets, camera etc., cds for the pc, boxes and info about such things sorted into one box again and stored away. Box of empty picture frames filled and placed into storage with bubble envelopes. Easy access but out of the way (and on a basement shelf out of sight).

NOW I start sorting bundles of kimono scraps by colour into bins. As I collected them on my ...@__@!!!!....WOW ~ CLEAN and CLEARED SEWING TABLE ~ It occured to me that I don't know how many kimono (haori or kimono) I own so I decided to do a quick count.

*0__o....only 64?

..and I know I have 2 boxes between here and Kyoto...due to arrive sometime in July. One of the contains...um....23. I don't have a clue how many are in the other one.

.....

I have traded my Japanese-manga/doujin-I'll-never-read obsession for Japanese-clothing-I'll-never-wear.

Yeah...I know...I should be slapped. Hard.

So the *gas people* FINALLY get back to me, a week later.... regarding the scheduling of my gasline lowering and they need MORE locates because you know the last two weren't ENOUGH and then they will schedule the work to be done in the next 2-3 WEEKS!

Thank the GODS I decided to call the people who were to paint my front porch next week to hold off until July.

AND in other news...my new carpet in the livingroom is so badly damaged from cat urine I can't even approach the room for the reek that has fermented in this humidity.... and it will have to be replaced for a 2nd time in 2 months. SO that makes TWO area rugs and the livingroom that she has destroyed since we got the latter re-carpted.

The cat will not be returning from the farm.

I have so many negative emotions to choose from right now I don't know where to begin.....it's just a party in my head right now!

→ grocery store ~ done
→ gym ~ done
→ send parental unit Mother's Day email since calling twice didn't get through ~ done
→ wash dishes ~ done
→ have gas company locate in hand ~ done

Need to call the pavers now and let them oogle the numbers ...which don't look encouraging. The likelihood of the driveway NOT being finished before I leave ~ is pretty good... since that pipe is less than 2' deep and the pavers want it 3'.

No point in pouting. At least I can set the wheels in motion before I go.

Time for a shower then get the laundry churning before getting myself a chai latte made and start chasing down the sprog for homework.

This morning Teh Bob asks me if they will be making a lot of noise as they rip out the driveway and jackhammer in the basement since he would be busy in his office with a company propeller-head this a.m.

*0__o...and we've talked about this HOW many times over the past week?

I told him that there wasn't much chance that they had invented a silent way of drilling holes in concrete, so no...it was going to be on the loud side of things. (.__(.

ANYway ~ so water is off and I am on *house-sittiing* duty since the husband wisely cancelled whatever it was he needed to do with his engineer in the office and abandoned ship.

SO ~ since I can't really *do* anything yet domestic-duty wise (afterwards will be another story) I'm just going to watch some more BLEACH.

*settles in for part 32*

.....okay so I wake up to lots of really heavy snow this morning.

Shovel ~ shovel ~ shovel.

Pack up croc-cookies I made the night before for Teh Sprog to share with his class.

Start worrying that the coming snow storm/freezing rain will = a no-show of the reptile folks for the party.

Run errands of food for kids...like frozen pizzas in case the weather sucks so much that the pizza delivery people can't make it. I had thought to make them myself but then thought deliver was easier...but with the weather...

Take them to the basement to put in the freezer.

Note that the laundry tub is backed up with grey water.

....

Call plumber.

Call neighbour to arrange for kids to use her toilet in case ours isn't functioning at that time (or before)

AND....looking for silver lining....since I can't wash dishes...good thing I'm not making pizza from scratch anymore!!

That aside ~ I am really really sorry Karma/God/Goddess/Whomeveritmayconcern.
